Credentials

Christina “Chris” Bryan will bring nearly two decades of state and federal court experience to the bench. She is a partner at Smyser Kaplan & Veselka and practices complex commercial litigation. She has represented plaintiffs and defendants and has trial and appellate experience.
Chris finished with highest honors and Phi Beta Kappa at the University of Texas and graduated with honors from Harvard Law School. She then went on to clerk for the Honorable Homer Thornberry on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Character
Through hard work and perseverance, Chris paid her way through college and law school. Now she gives back to her profession and her community. She is active in the Houston Bar Association (HBA), recently receiving its President’s Award for exemplary service. She is a a member of the HBA Gender Fairness Committee and is co-chair of the HBA Communities in Schools Committee which offers a summer legal internship to students in at-risk high schools.

She has served on the boards of Houston’s Planned Parenthood affiliate and the Memorial Hermann Institutional Ethics Committee. She donates her time to several other charitable organizations in Houston, including The Children’s Fund, Kids’ Meals, The Nehemiah Center, the Houston Food Bank and Inprint, Inc.
Commitment
Chris consistently demonstrates her commitment to her profession, her community and her family. She has been married to her husband Trey Peacock for more than 16 years and they have three children – Jake, Carson, and Nolan. Chris and her family attend St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, near downtown Houston.
As Judge of the 113th Civil District Court, she will hold herself to the same ethical, professional and personal standards that have guided her entire life. She knows our courts must inspire the public’s trust and that judges are the most visible source of that trust. She will be prepared, thorough, thoughtful and courteous. She is committed to applying the law fairly, and to protecting citizens’ access to the courts.
